Scholarly Sunday
An hour and a half south of the House Hotel is the Mystic Bay Area on the water with a great Aquarium, unique little shops, an 1800's seaport with restored maritime pleasures and day excursions on sailboats. Aran loved it.
Maybe Monday
Annette gave the Native American Pequot Museum four stars. This extensive museum covers more Native American cultures than just the Pequot Indians. For those who might want more action go next door to the Foxwoods Casino.
Tempting Tuesday
Go shopping at the Scranton's Shops on Route 169 in S. Woodstock. Discover unique crafts, art, and antiques by 90 local artisans in an early New England blacksmith shop. Have lunch on-site at Fox Hunt Farms Gourmet & Cafe.
Why Not Wednesday
Fly over the Quiet Corner with Brighter Skies Hot Air Balloon Co. 800-677-5114 in Woodstock. It's a little too pricey for our budget, we are getting married you know, but tell us what it was like, or just bring us an icicle from the sky.
Thankfully Thursday
Take a trip to Martha's Herbary and Gift Shop, a mile past our wedding chapel (the rehearsal starts at 4:00 pm). 589 Pomfret St./Rte. 169. Experience the herbs early and then go lunch across the street at the Vanilla Bean Cafe.
Finally Friday
You could reserve a very, very early tee time at any of the following courses: Brooklyn Country Club (860)779-2400, Skungamaug River Golf Club (860)742-9348, Putnam Country Club (860)928-7748 or Woodstock Golf Course (860)928-4130. Or is March too cold for you infamous B,B,B&G-ers?
Silly Saturday
For those of you who aren't too hung over, let's visit Mik-Ran's Sugarhouse, cousin to Willy Wonka, to see how maple-sugar candies are made. Demos are from the trees to our mouths. 86 Stetson Rd. (off Rte. 6) (860)774-7926
